Confession: when the temps go above 80, I get grouchy. I hate walking outside and feeling like I’m going to melt. My favorite temps are 65-75, if I could live in that year round, I would move this afternoon.
This summer has been the best summer that I can remember in a long time. We have had a couple of really hot days, but for the most part, it’s been a summer in the late 60’s – 70’s and it’s perfection.
My favorite part about any summer: outdoor cooking!
Over the weekend, we grilled some steaks and chicken while the in laws were visiting and wow. SO good!!
There is just something about cooking on the grill that makes everything taste better.
I’m so far behind on blog posting, the week without internet access sucked!
A couple of weeks ago, our Church had a kid’s activity day and we all met at Independence Oaks for a lunch, games and beach time.
They also have some really nice trails that Emma and I will brave during the day while the older kids are at school.
After everyone was done swimming and I was trying to pack things up, the boys decided to use my camera and take some selfies.
As Emma is getting older and things aren’t as insane as they were when she was a newborn, it’s actually getting easier to get out and do things during the day.
I’m not sure if I’m brave enough to take all 4 of them alone to the beach, but it was perfect with a big group of people.
A couple of weeks ago, we had family in town and the day before they left, we took all the cousins to Air Time trampoline park.
I had never been to one before, so I didn’t know what to expect, but once we walked in, I knew everyone would love it!
Wall to wall trampolines, basketball, dodge ball and a foam pit? What’s not to love!
We paid for 1 hour of jumping and they were all sufficiently worn out. Winning.
Emma and I walked around with her in the Ergo. Not sure how with how loud it was in there, but she managed to sneak in a nap. Babywearing for the win!
All 3 of them want to take friends and go for their next birthday!
About a year and a half ago, I purchased a Fit Bit Zip…but like a lot of things, once i got pregnant, it was put on a shelf and forgotten about. It wasn’t until I was at Target last week looking at the Fit Bit Flex that I remembered I had already bought a Fit Bit and went to find it. Of course the battery was dead and after finally getting a new battery, yesterday was the first day I wore it.
I need more activity in my life! Even after going to 2 grocery stores, the shortest/slowest walk of all time and just general walking through the house all day, I only managed a little over 9000 steps for the whole day.
Even though I didn’t hit my 10,000 goal on the first day, it was nice challenging myself to get more steps in. Our walk was incredibly slow and short lived thanks to a certain 3 month old having a meltdown…but it was nice to get out and walk.
Hopefully Emma starts to tolerate her stroller more so we can go for longer walks once everyone is back to school in a few weeks.
This picture was taken at the start of our walk. Pre-meltdown. Totally bribed my 6 year old with a sprite for going on a walk with me. He had to drink water first and then got sprite at the end, I’m not above bribery.
This week was a little easier, I stuck to the carb counts I used when I was pregnant, my blood sugars were almost in the normal range every day and I even managed to sneak in a little exercise here and there. The scale didn’t cooperate as much as I thought it would, but I’m on a mission much bigger than a number on the scale…but that number does need to move at some point. Jeeze.
My baby is almost 4 months old, the “i just had a baby and a c-section excuse” no longer flies. At least for me. I want my pre-baby body back!
Sunday evening we had just finished dinner, when we noticed some really dark clouds moving in and everyone’s phone started going crazy with severe thunderstorm warnings and then the wind picked up, the rain came down and then the hail. It was insane! The power was knocked out and kept coming and going until Wednesday afternoon. The cable and internet was out until this morning and (fingers crossed) everything is back in working order!! In other news, since the internet was down this week and my phone is incredibly slow and useless without WiFi, I started reading again.
My name is Chloe Saunders and my life will never be the same again.
All I wanted was to make friends, meet boys, and keep on being ordinary. I don’t even know what that means anymore. It all started on the day that I saw my first ghost – and the ghost saw me.
Now there are ghosts everywhere and they won’t leave me alone. To top it all off, I somehow got myself locked up in Lyle House, a “special home” for troubled teens. Yet the home isn’t what it seems. Don’t tell anyone, but I think there might be more to my housemates than meets the eye. The question is, whose side are they on? it’s up to me to figure out the dangerous secrets behind Lyle House…before its skeletons come back to haunt me.
I have some pictures on my camera that I took before we all went into the basement, but here is one I found on a local news channel from the storms rolling in.
This is really starting to get ridiculous. It seems like the harder I try, the more my body rebels and says, nope, going to hang on to everything. Trying not to get discouraged, but it’s tough to not see ANY progress on the scale. I’m eating better and that’s what really matters, but dang, throw me a bone, scale!
Here’s to another week!
