Happy Birthday Dad

The next few days are going to be emotional. Not nearly as bad as it was the first years, because I truly am healing, but those memories and emotions come soaring back.

A little back story for anyone who is new to my site. On April 13, 2010, about 20 minutes after talking to him on the phone to finalize our plans for the day, my Dad was hit head on and killed instantly by someone driving a semi-truck and not paying attention. The above picture was taken in August 2009 at my youngest brother’s wedding. My Dad would have been 67 today, but our last birthday party with him was just two days before he was killed. Sunday we were celebrating, by that Wednesday we were planning a funeral.

It’s been hard, life changing, life shattering over these past 3 years, but individually, and as a family, we are healing. On this day and in the coming days, hold your loved ones tighter. Call someone and tell them you love them, let this story be proof that life is incredibly short and you never know what will happen.

Happy Birthday, Dad. We love and miss you so very much.
