Fall in a bowl

I have been trying to make more of an effort to make use of all of the food in our pantry and when I was looking for something to make for breakfast this morning I came across 3 giant containers of oatmeal…I wish I was kidding. I like oatmeal, but it’s never been a go to food for me like eggs are, but the bowl I made this morning. Hello, lover.

I mixed half water and half milk and while that was boiling, I cooked apple chunks in cinnamon and a little water so they would steam. After the oats were done I topped them with the apples and one of my most favorite of nut butters.

Mixed everything together and it was like a bowl of Fall goodness and love.

Oatmeal might move up the list of favorite breakfasts after all!!!

For lunch, I was craving a sandwich – these taste so good lately – and went simple. Mustard, ham, swiss and pickles.

So delicious!!! On the side I had some sliced cucumbers

And 1/2 an apple, my little man had the other half.

Since I still have 3 containers of oats left, what would be on your perfect bowl of oatmeal?

5 Things Friday

1. My sister is on her way here! I hope you have a safe flight sissy, can’t freaking WAIT to see her! She will be here for 10 days and we are going to have a fabulous time.

4. Chocolate Shakeology. Seriously amazing.  I mix this with a handful of ice cubes, cup of vanilla coconut milk and blend away. My husband takes a shake for breakfast every morning and I’ve been having a shake for lunch.

5. New Larabar flavors! I got this package in the mail the other day and I can’t wait to try all of the new flavors!!

Leaves aren’t the only things falling

You wouldn’t know it by the 80 degree weather we have been having, but it is October.

And the leaves aren’t the only thing that’s falling this year.

I went to my 2nd Weight Watchers meeting on Saturday and left feeling on top of the world! I finally found a program that’s going to work, this is something I CAN do the rest of my life. I’m not ON a diet, I’m not starving, I’m eating whatever I want and I feel fanfreakingtastic.

Last Week: 212.8

Breakfast:

DSC_0858

  • Trader Joe’s Hot Multigrain Cereal (5P+)
  • Artisana Cashew Butter (5P+)
  • 1 tsp. canola oil (1P+)
  • 1/2 Cup Blueberries (0P+)

I wish I could say I loved the cashew butter, but I just didn’t. It was too overpowering. I won’t be buying this one.

But the blueberries, perfection. I bought these at a farmer’s market a few months ago near the campground and I froze a bag full. I’m so glad I did. These were just as good as the day I bought them.

I’m ready for a new week, make today the best it can be!!

For the love of fall {and nut butter}

I really wish it was Fall all year long. Not too hot, not too cold.

Perfect weather for

  • Yoga pants
  • Runs outside
  • Long walks outside
  • Apple cider
  • Apples

And the colors this time of year are bright and vibrant! Since we moved into our house in June, I had no idea we had mums planted in the backyard, they have been blooming for the past week or so, and I just love their bright colors!!

Before I get talking about my bowl ‘o oats this morning, I’ll back up to last night’s dinner.

Dinner:

Chili cheese noodles and green beans. It was ok, but not something I could eat all the time.

DSC_0668

Except for the green beans. They were cooked perfectly! I steamed them with a little bit of salt and garlic salt. Perfect!!

Breakfast:

Ever since I received a package of different nut butters from Artisana to review, I have been dreaming of oats and using all of the different butters as toppings.

This morning I tried the Raw Almond Butter (Taken from their website)

Experience the delightful texture and clean aroma of our raw, uniquely energizing almond purée.

Artisana™ Organic Raw Almond Butter is a great way to add protein, essential vitamins and minerals to your diet.

Add to fruit, shakes, cereal, sandwiches, confections or eat right out of the jar.

Normally, I buy almond butter from other stores, but this was SO good! While other almond butters I have tried were dry and slightly lacking in flavor, this was creamy and had the perfect amount of almond flavor…I may have licked the package after I plopped it onto my bowl of oats.
